‘I live in Phamong, QwaQwa. I am on my way home. My problem when I use the bicycle is that I have to walk up and down the hills – I can only ride on flat surfaces, because I have a leg injury from a car accident. Before I used this bicycle, I was a marathon runner. I ran Comrades, Two Oceans ... a lot of marathons. Now I use the bicycle to train. I love it – okay, it’s an old bicycle but it is important to me because it keeps me fit and at the same time it’s my legs. I bought it when I was working at the mine in Klerksdorp. When I lost my job I brought it back home. I load metals, zinc and scraps in the carrier at the back and sell them at the scrap yard. That’s why it is so big. It helps me – I get a few cents to live on.’
